Maldives
The Republic of Maldives and the Gambia share long-standing bilateral relations apart from sharing common shared values like shared belief in Islam, historical ties, democratic principles, and membership in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Commonwealth of Nations. They intend to extend their ties in form of sharing knowledge and expertise in the areas of tourism, agriculture and fisheries. The Maldives established diplomatic relations with the Gambia on July 3, 1989.

The Gambia shares friendly, diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka, with the focus on enhancing political, socio-economic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of both countries. The bilateral relations between The Gambia and Sri Lanka came into effect from 10th May 2019 when H.E. Dr. Amrith Rohan Perera, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Lang Yabou, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of The Gambia to the United Nations signed an agreement for the establishment of diplomatic ties.
